Mark Wahlberg has recently sold his luxurious Los Angeles home for $55 million, although it did not meet his initial expectations of a blockbuster sale. The palatial mansion is located in the well-known Beverly Park enclave and was sold for cash.
According to property records, the buyers are rumored to be foreign individuals from Asia, with connections to Hong Kong and Mainland China. However, their identities have not been revealed, and they remain shrouded in mystery. Interestingly, these same anonymous buyers had previously purchased the colossal mansion of reality TV stars Terry and Heather Dubrow, also for $55 million, in Newport Coast, California, just four months ago.
The ex-Dubrow manor spans an impressive 22,000 square feet; however, Wahlberg's residence surpasses its size. The custom-built estate, designed by renowned architect Richard Landry and decorated by noted designer Annette English, boasts French-style architecture and an impressive 30,000 square feet of living space. The estate encompasses a vast 6-acre compound featuring a substantial main house and several auxiliary structures comprising 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms.
Wahlberg purchased the property as undeveloped land for approximately $8 million in 2009. The uniquely distinctive estate was completed in approximately 2014. Originally listed at $87.5 million, the estate's asking price was eventually reduced to $79 million before the buyers made their lowball offer. Although the $55 million sale price is still impressive, it falls short of Beverly Park's price record of $70 million, set by Hong Kong tycoon Hao Tang last year. Notably, Adele acquired Sylvester Stallone's Beverly Park residence for $58 million just a few weeks before that.
The impressive features of Wahlberg's recently sold estate are almost too numerous to mention. The property boasts a two-story library, a living room with dual fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen featuring two islands, a gym with mirrored walls, a wine cellar equipped with a tasting room, a movie theater, and an upstairs master retreat with exquisitely customized dual closets and marble bathrooms.
The estate's exterior is equally impressive, with a spacious motor court that accommodates dozens of cars, manicured gardens, a tennis court with a viewing pavilion, a custom skate park, a detached guesthouse, and a grotto-style pool featuring waterfalls and Baja sunbathing shelves.
Wahlberg and his wife, Rhea Durham, are relocating to Las Vegas, where they recently acquired a luxury mansion and two parcels of vacant land for more than $30 million.
While the identity of the mystery buyers, who have purchased two ultra-luxury Southern California homes for a combined total of $110 million in just four months, remains undisclosed, it is likely that the Beverly Park mansion will serve as their primary residence and the Newport Coast villa as their exclusive vacation home. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
