Labor Day Drug Bust
Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station sent out narcotic investigators over the weekend to a Hidden Hill’s home thought to be host to illegal activities. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators found “approximately 1,000 marijuana plants, 40 pounds of processed marijuana product, 47 ballasts, 37 high intensity lights, a .40 caliber Beretta semi-automatic handgun and other evidence”. Based on their calculations, the value of these items is somewhere between $900,000-$1,000,000.
Two men, 54-year-old Robert Larue and 50-year-old Mauricio Lara were arrested in relation to the crime and held at the Malibu/Lost Hills police station. Both were charged with Transport/Sell/Furnish Marijuana, Cultivation of Marijuana, and Theft of Utilities. The later was due to an electrical bypass that had been installed in the home in order to run the whole operation. Southern California Edison investigators were informed of this operation and are looking into the on-going theft of electricity.
Robert Larue posted bail at $100,000 but Mauricio Lara is still being held by the police as well as by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
