The founder, Cara Sorkin, has an incredible story. She discovered yoga during a personal health challenge and was so transformed by the practice that she traveled to India to study directly with the Iyengars. Now she's bringing that authentic tradition right here to our community.
For yoga beginners, this place is a godsend. The smaller class sizes mean instructors actually know your name and can help adjust your form. They have an impressive collection of props – from blocks and bolsters to a specialized rope wall – that make poses accessible even if you're as inflexible as I was when I started!
What I love most about Yoga Upstairs is how they've created more than just a studio – they've built a genuine community. After showing houses all day, there's something special about walking into a space where people greet you by name and genuinely care about how you're doing.
